Woodcreek Varsity split a pair of games on a blustery Monday afternoon.
The first game against Vista Del Lago was one to forget with Vista jamming 16 runs across the plate while Woodcreek mustered 5 of their own. The T-Wolves were plagued with poor defense however Shaun Mize and Jon Nutter provided something to cheer about as they both slammed HR’s over the left field wall both coming in the 5th inning to stretch the game. Mize went 3x4 , Forsyth 2x4 with a pair of doubles, and Nogosek contributed a pair of singles in the contest.
A different Woodcreek team showed up for the second game as they dismantled Bear River by the mercy rule with a score of 14-3. The offense rapped out 12 hits in the shortened game with plenty of contributions including Shaun Mize’s 3x4 with a double, Jon Nutter’s 2x2 with a triple, Justin Smith’s pair of singles, and a triple by John Peska leading the way. The defense also tightened up but Jay Standen didn’t give Bear River many opportunities with 10 K’s in 4 innings and no free passes before he handed the reins over to Brandon Raposa to finish the 5th and final inning.
