Varsity Rusty After Easter Break

Varsity vs Roseville HS on 4/6/2010 4:00:00 PM
Posted Wednesday, April 07, 2010 by Kurt Standen

The Varsity T-Wolves proved a bit rusty after the break as they were defeated by an almost equally rusty Roseville squad.  Neither team sported much of an offense and the defenses were faulty at times but Roseville mustered 5 hits as compared to Woodcreek’s 4 and managed to pull out a win.  Woodcreek 2, Roseville 3.  Sam Anderson took the hill for the Wolves and put forth a game effort but the Roseville nine managed to string 3 of their 5 hits together in one inning enabling 2 runs to score in the 3rd then added an unearned one in the 4th.  Brandon Cain breezed in a final inning of relief and shut down Roseville with an easy comeback grounder and 2 strikeouts.   Woodcreek’s 2 runs came in the 3rd inning, both unearned, and their hits were scattered throughout the contest limiting potential damage.  Stephen Nogosek collected 2 hits while John Peska and Michael Blair also added singles rounding out the hitting effort.

Roseville has to head to Woodcreek Thursday for the second game of the three game contest.
