The Woodcreek Varsity bats finally came alive, slamming 13 hits, as the T-Wolves scored in all but 2 innings of an exciting extra inning game. Woodcreek struck early and often to build a lead that evaporated in the 7th when the Thunder struck for six runs to tie it up. Stephen Nogosek started on the bump and turned in a fine performance before wearing down in the 5th and giving way to a succession of relievers. Mark Smith came on in the 7th and snuffed out the final batter for the inning. Woodcreek came back for another run in the 8th as Jon Nutter singled, a Justin Forsyth sacrifice bunt got him to second, and a Justin Smith single sent Nutter home with the lead run. Mark Smith came back out to take the hill, with a one run lead, in the 8th and retired the next three hitters on a ground out, a strike out, and a fly to left to ice the game.
Jon Nutter went 4x5 at the dish while John Peska went 3x5, and Justin Smith went 3x5 with two doubles and 4 RBI’s to lead the offensive onslaught. Trent Pajer, Stephen Nogosek, and Justin Forsyth each contributed a hit of their own in the effort.
The final game of the match takes place Friday at Woodcreek.
