The Varsity T-Wolves, behind the one hit pitching of Stephen Nogosek, took down Casa Roble by a score of 4-0.
All scoring was done in the first two innings. In the first, Brandon Raposa doubled, Austin Hagarty singled, and Stephen Nogosek lofted a sacrifice fly to score Raposa. Hagarty came home later via a fielder’s choice. In the second, John Peska walked and Raposa again doubled to drive in Peska. The Casa relief corps arrived after the Woodcreek burst and snuffed all further scoring but it was far too late to make a difference.
The game was more intense than the score indicated as Nogosek carried a rare no hitter past the mid way point of the game and kept his performance rolling into the seventh when a single in the top of the seventh broke it up. Three consecutive fly outs followed the single and the game concluded, Nogosek facing just one batter over the minimum.
Woodcreek rolls into the first league game on Monday, against Roseville, game one of a three game set that continues with games on Wednesday at Roseville, Friday at home, and promises to be a classic dogfight.
