After the 12-11 dogfight at Woodcreek that saw the T-Wolves bury the Roseville Tigers in the bottom of the seventh on Monday, no one would have bet on a classic extra inning pitcher’s duel but that’s what unfolded in Roseville Wednesday as Jay Standen took the hill for the T-Wolves and dealt poison to the cats for six innings after being taken out for the seventh. By the close of the seventh the game was tied 1=1 and the powerful Tigers held to just three hits. In the meantime, the Roseville starter was doing a great job of holding the highly potent Woodcreek offense at bay as well. Inning after inning, defenses ruled the day, and emotions ran high.
It all boiled down to some very small, and maybe lucky, things as such nail biters often do, and in the bottom of the eighth inning Roseville managed to push across one final run to end it 1-2 and it was their time to celebrate.
This series is shaping up as one for the ages with something for everyone. With the series tied one game a piece, the rubber match happens Friday at Woodcreek and if anyone has ever wondered what the SFL is all about, this series is the one to see and the game on Friday the one you won't want to miss as a pack of hungry Wolves can't wait to feed.
