It was a tougher win than the score indicates with Whitney threatening in almost every inning, but Woodcreek edged ahead till they were able to break the game open in the final two innings.

#6 JG lead off the game with a single to left field. #2 JW followed with a sac bunt moving JG into scoring positioni.  #12 JR reaches on error by the 3rd baseman also allowing JG to advance to third. #13 AL grounds out on hit-and-run driving in JG. #24 DR grounded out to end the inning.

The bottom of the first was not pretty for Woodcreek.  The lead off batter reached second on a error in the outfield.  He took third on a past ball by the catcher.  The next batter hit a ground ball back to the pitcher #18 JSt for the first out, but the next batter singled with the infield drawn in scoring the run from third.  He took second on another past ball and finally third on a past ball and scored on a past ball by the catcher.  The next batter walked and a sac bunt moved him over, but the subsequent batter lined out to left field for the final out.  Whitney had the lead 2-1 after one.

The top of the second was quiet for Wookcreek.  The lead off batter grounded out, followed by a pop out, #15 BT drew a walk but was picked off after a lenghthy run down.

The bottom of second was quiet for Whitney.  The first three batters all struck out, but the third one reached on an error by the catcher on a dropped third strike.  He made up for it throwing the runner out trying to steal second.

Still 2-1 after two.

The top of the thrid had a hot #4 CS lead off with a fly out. #6 JG grounded out.  With two outs, things got interesting.  #2 JW reached on an error by the center fielder and immediatley stole second.  #12 JR drove JW in with an opposite field double.  #13 AL got in an early hole with two outs, getting down 0-2 but he battled back to earn a walk.  With JR on second and AL on first, Whitney tries a suprise pick off of AL at first but the throw is off line.  JR scores and AL moves to third on the error.  #24 DR earned a walk.  With runners on first and third, DR attempts a delayed steal and gets in a run down.  AL scores during the run down and DR works his way to second.  #23 KP then triples and drives in DR.  #25 RC hit a hard ground ball and it took a great play by the short stop to to throw him out.  The inning ended with Woodcreek scoring four runs with two outs and taking a 5-2 lead.

The bottom of the third saw Whitney close the gap.  It started with a  walk followed by an error on bunt. With two runners on Whitney executes a double steal. The next batter walks and the bases are loaded. #18 J St gets a strike out but a single by the next batter scores two. A short blooper and the ump calling it a trapped catch doesn't get the out there, but the runner at first held up and was thrown out at second. With runners at first and third Whitney attempts a steal but Woodcreek executes a cut play.  #13 AL threw to #6 JG cutting in and throws back to AL to get the runner going home.  Whitney closed the gap.  After three it was Woodcreek up 5-4.

#10 JS was still on the bump for Woodcreek and to keep things interesting he again lead off the inning by hitting the lead off batter.. The next batter singles. With runners on first and second Whitney fails on a hit-and-run and #13 AL throws the runner out at third.  JS issues a walk. A wild pitch allows the runners to advance; however, JS induces a soft liner to SS.  With two outs and runners still at second and third, a passed ball by AL allows a run to score.  The next batter flies out to center field to end the inning.  Despite the run, Woodcreek is still leading 7-5.
In the top of the sixth, #7 TE pinch hitting for #4 CS gets down in the count 1-2 but drives a single up the middle.  He steals second.  #6 JG executes a third sac bunt for Woodcreek but reaches base on a error by the pitcher.  TE scores on the throwing error.  With JG safe at first, #2 JW executes another Sac Bunt and advances JG to second.  #13 JR hits an opposite field single and scores JG.  JR steals second. #13 AL strikes out.  JR steals third.  With JR at third, #24 DR grounds out to end Woodcreeks threat; however, Woodcreek added to it's lead going up 9-5.

After six complete innings, Woodcreek holds a 9-5 lead.

The top of the seventh sees Woodcreek explode with a mix of hits and good baserunning by the entire line up to score four more runs and take a 13-5 lead.

#16 SC stays on the mound to close it out for Woodcreek.  SC issues a lead off walk but then gets the next batter to strike out.  He walks to next batter.  Struggling, he finally finds command and induces a weak ground ball to first followed but a fly out to center field for the final out of the game.

Woodcreek wins 13-5.  The next game will be Woodcreeks first home game versus Yuba City.  It will be on March 21st.
