Facing Yuba City after a rain delayed schedule, Woodcreek jumped on the board in the first inning. JW led off with a double but our #2 batter failed to advance him. AL then took a mistake fastball just in front of the 345 foot sign knocking in the first and only run of the top of the 1st. Yuba Answered tying the game in the bottom of the 1st. It was a tight game for the first half of the game with some back and forth scoring.
JS led off the 2nd with walk and the 3rd with a single. In the 2nd he stole second and reached third on a passed ball before MH ground out to second base scoring JS. In the 3rd JS singled with CS executing a sac bunt to move him over, MH hit behind JS moving him to third on the put out. JS scored when JG put the ball and play and Yuba City couldn't field it cleanly.
Yuba City scored in the 2nd with two outs. The runner reached on an error, moved to second when the next batter walked. The following batter reached and loaded the bases. Yuba City then scored on a passed ball. With two outs the threat ended with a fly out to center field.
So with Woodcreek up 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th, JW who had come in earlier in the game in relief of JS gave up a doubled to left field to the leadoff batter. Yuba City executed a sac bunt to get the runner over. The next batter did his job and singled him in tying the game 3-3. Yuba City then took the lead when the next Yuba City hitter took a hanging change-up over the right field wall for a two run home run. However, JW allowed no further damage heading into what was going to be an exciting 6th inning, Woodcreek was down 5-3.
Leading off the top of the 6th for Woodcreek was JP. JP promptly cut into Yuba's lead with a solo shot over the right field wall. JS followed with a ground out. CS drew a walk. MH hits a potential inning ending double play back to the pitcher but a throwing error allowed all base runners to reach base safely. It would prove to be a costly error.
JG follows with walk to load bases. JW draws another walk which scores the tying run. MO strikes out. With bases still loaded, AL then gets hit by a bouncing pitch scoring the go-ahead run. Bases are still loaded with Woodcreek now up 6-5. JR comes to the plate and drives a 1-2 count pitch to the left center field gap that rolls to the wall earning him a base clearing triple that puts Woodcreek up 9-5. JP who started the inning with a home run gets another at bat and promptly doubles in JR from third. JS ends the onslaught grounding out to end the inning.
MO comes in to pitch the final two innings. Throwing BB's he close out the game. Final, Woodcreek 10, Yuba City 5
