Solid pitching dominated the game for both sides; however, a 3 run blast by AL in the bottom of the third put Woodcreek on top. Woodcreek would ride that lead to the end for a 3-1 win.
JcS started the game for Woodcreek and went 5 2/3's giving up only 1 unearned run, while recording 7 strikeouts and allowing only 2 walks. JW came in for relief and with the zippiest fastball seen this season and shut Rocklin down. He recorded 3 strike outs while facing only 6 batters. His only mistake was a hit batter, but that was earased with a ground out to first base that was almost a double play, but the SS had to dig out a low throw and was unable to complete it.
Woodcreek didn't do much other than the homerun. The Rocklin's starting pitcher allowed just 4 hits, 3 earned runs, only 1 walk and recorded 4 strike outs. Without the home run scoring, Woodcreek looked less than inspired. In fact, the HR came with two outs and the base runners had reached on a single and an error. But the HR counted and Woodcreek kept Rocklin in check behind great pitching and good defense to make it all they needed.
