Jack Rotteveel did all he could to give WHS Varsity Timberwolves a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Yuba City, as WHS Varsity Timberwolves lost 7-5 in seven innings at Yuba City HS on Tuesday.
It was a good day at the plate for WHS Varsity Timberwolves' Rotteveel. Rotteveel went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the seventh inning.
I Rodriguez recorded the win for Yuba City. He allowed three runs over four innings. Rodriguez struck out four, walked three and gave up three hits.
Yuba City was sparked by B Rose and C Goldby, who teamed up for three hits and two RBIs.
Cody Lindsey was charged with the loss. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
Yuba City jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. J Mejiastarted the rally for Yuba City with a double. A groundout by Rose then moved J Mejia from second to third.
WHS Varsity Timberwolves scored two runs in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with two more in the seventh. In the fourth, WHS Varsity Timberwolves scored on a wild pitch, plating Rotteveel.
Yuba City stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring three runs on an error, a groundout by S Byers, and an RBI single by Goldby.
Yuba City built upon its lead with three runs in the fifth. A triple by Rose ignited the offense,, scoring J Mejia.
